Far from the Apple Tree

Scottish Fantasy Film Directed by Grant McPhee

Glasgow-based Tartan Features' new film Far from the Apple Tree is set for cinema release in the UK and Ireland on 1 July. Written by Paul Laverty and directed by Grant McPhee, Far from the Apple Tree tells the story of an immigrant family in Scotland.

Sorcha Groundsell, who plays Eleven in the Netflix series Stranger Things, stars in the lead role as Sinead, a young girl who is struggling to come to terms with her identity. The film also stars Jack Greenlees, Eilidh Fisher, and Gary Lewis.

Far from the Apple Tree is a coming-of-age story that explores themes of identity, immigration, and family. The film has been praised for its strong performances, beautiful cinematography, and thought-provoking story.

In an interview with The Guardian, McPhee said that he wanted to make a film that would "challenge preconceptions about what it means to be Scottish." He said, "I wanted to tell a story about an immigrant family that is as authentic and relatable as possible."

Far from the Apple Tree is a powerful and moving film that is sure to stay with you long after you leave the cinema.
