Indiana Fever Coach

Indiana Fever Coach Marianne Stanley Steps Down

Fever Look for New Leadership After Stanley's Departure

After a disappointing season that saw the Indiana Fever finish with a 12-20 record and miss the playoffs, head coach Marianne Stanley has stepped down from her position, the team announced on Tuesday.

Stanley, who was hired by the Fever in 2020, led the team to a 31-49 record in three seasons. She was named the WNBA Coach of the Year in 2020 after guiding the Fever to a 9-9 record in the shortened season.

However, the Fever struggled to maintain their success in the following two seasons, finishing with a 6-26 record in 2021 and 12-20 this year.

Fever Search for New Coach

The Fever will now begin the search for a new head coach. The team is expected to cast a wide net in their search, considering both experienced and up-and-coming coaches.

Some potential candidates include:

  • Kelly Graves (Gonzaga)
  • Vic Schaefer (Texas)
  • Brenda Frese (Maryland)
  • Kara Lawson (Duke)
  • Adia Barnes (Arizona)

The Fever are hoping to find a coach who can lead them back to the playoffs and contend for a championship. The team has a young core of talented players, led by 2020 No. 1 overall pick Aaliyah Boston.

With the right coach in place, the Fever could be a force in the WNBA for years to come.
