Sparks Outplay Storm Almost Everywhere, Except on the Scoreboard

The Storm's Inability to Convert Scoring Chances Proves Costly

Despite Outplaying the Sparks in Every Facet of the Game, the Storm Fell Short in a Closely Contested Battle

In a thrilling matchup between the Seattle Storm and the Los Angeles Sparks, the Sparks emerged victorious with a 84-74 win, despite being outplayed by the Storm in nearly every other aspect of the game. The Storm dominated the boards, outrebounding the Sparks 43-28, and also dished out more assists, 23-16. However, the Sparks were able to capitalize on their scoring opportunities, shooting 47.1% from the field to the Storm's 40.8%.

The Storm were led by Breanna Stewart, who finished with a game-high 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. Jewell Loyd added 17 points and 5 assists, and Katie Lou Samuelson chipped in 13 points. For the Sparks, Nneka Ogwumike led the way with 22 points and 9 rebounds, while Candace Parker added 19 points and 8 rebounds. Brittney Sykes came off the bench to score 16 points and grab 7 rebounds.

The Storm got off to a hot start, taking an early 10-point lead. However, the Sparks chipped away at the lead throughout the first half and eventually took a one-point lead into halftime. The second half was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to gain a significant advantage. In the end, the Sparks were able to make the plays down the stretch and secure the victory.

The Storm's loss was their third in a row, and they now sit at 10-10 on the season. The Sparks, meanwhile, improved to 12-8 with the win. The two teams will face off again on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
